IJ Mile of Minis Attempt Update
As you know we have been consulting with the Authorities concerning the possibility of holding The Italian Job event in March and, following their advice we have agreed to postpone the Mile of Mini event until Sunday 23 May. We are obviously disappointed but on the plus side there is more time available for recruiting other enthusiastic Mini owners to join our challenge.
The weather will most probably be better and you will enjoy driving your Mini/MINI around beautiful Oxfordshire in the company of over 100 other Minis, following not the usual SatNav but the instructions given to you by your co-driver “decoding“ the tulip design Road Book which may also include a quiz and a few Kodak moments.
As you well know, the aim of this event is to fundraise in aid of children & families up and down the UK, gravely impacted by the pandemic. All the money raised by yourself will be donated to Buttle UK, the children's Charity, who will know where help is needed most. We appreciate that everybody will do their very best to raise as much money as possible and with every team raising a minimum of £40, we should reach a donation of £5,000. Of course it is possible to raise much more. Especially if more people take part, so please spread the word and entice all your Mini friends to take part in the Mini Mile on Sunday 23 May, raising money to help children in real need of our help.
The event will start with Minis arriving at the Mini Plant Oxford between 8.30 - 9.30am, parking following IJ Marshals directions and, on request, line up for a photo near your cars, prior to the official flag off starting the driving adventure. The proposed program will be totally in line with the pandemic restrictions, applicable after 17 May, so most probably we will have to offer you a pre-packed cold breakfast to be enjoyed in the privacy of your car!
With our next update to participants, at the end of March, we will send out:
Directions to the Mini Plant in Cowley ( Oxford ) – Arrival & Parking Instructions –
Outline driving itinerary around Oxfordshire – Sample Road Book for newcomers of the Italian Job style (as we will hand over the Road Book only on your arrival at the Mini Plant.)
We sincerely hope that everybody will be available to take part on the new date and look forward to meeting all of you on Sunday 23 May. However, we would appreciate receiving from all participants an email (to firstname.lastname@example.org) confirming your acceptance and agreement about the Entry Fee you have paid and asking us to do ONE of the following:
1: Transfer the amount to the new date
2: Refund the amount
3: Donate the amount to Buttle UK
Please also confirm your home address, including Post Code, which we need to nominate the “Farthest-travelled Mini Award” to be announced on Facebook by 31 May, together with the Most Sponsorship Award.
Looking forward to hearing from you and hoping to see all of you on Sunday 23 May.
